You are to write an essay comparing how data is used.
First, go to at LEAST one public domain data set and see what they use for data and how they explain it. Where did they say they get their data from? What kind of information data did they use? What types of (methodology) did they use to collect their data? How big was their sample, and where did it come from? Or, do they even say?
NOW read at least one professional, peer reviewed journal article, such as in the International Journal of Child Abuse and Neglect or the American Sociological Review. What kinds of statistics did they use? What methodology did they use?
THEN compare the two articles - which one is better and why? How do public domain articles differ from professional journals. The essay should be around 2-3 pages. Make sure to include the citations of the articles you used!
