These are sample notes from my memories of designing my online Critical Reading and Writing course at UMass Boston.

Which week will you outline? This will be week 3 of the course
What are the outcomes for this week? This week I want students to compare and contrast ideas presented by different authors. This will connect with the course-level outcomes: students will be able to integrate the ideas of others into their writing, students will use evidence from external sources in support of a thesis.
How will you know if (and what!) students have learned? There's no major assessments this week, but they will write pre-drafts and I'll give a small amount of feedback on that.
What kind of materials will students be interacting this week? They'll be working with the second and third articles in their reading set.
What kinds of activities and interactions will help students learn what they need to this week? I'm still figuring this one out. This week they'll need to read two new sources, understand the big ideas in the sources, and find points of similarity and contrast between these two authors AND the theoretical article we read last week. I want them to do this work on their own and then also in conversation with classmates, and finally, I want to see their work and give feedback. I wonder what activities this should translate into?
What technology or tools will students use this week? Not totally sure - definitely Zoom and Canvas, but I wonder if another tool would help with our goals.
Are there opportunities for reflection and/or feedback to you this week? Yes! the pre-draft will give them a chance to be reflective, but maybe I should also give them a quick feedback survey to see how things are going.
