Fieldwork Observation Reflection 1
- Due Mar 5, 2017 by 11:59pm
- Points 100
- Submitting a file upload
This week, your Canvas work is to submit a fieldwork observation reflection. This is the first of two reflections, which you will revise based on my feedback and submit in your portfolio at the end of the semester. This assignment is due by Sunday at 11:59pm.
The purpose of this assignment is to continue ensuring you are making connections between your fieldwork and coursework and to help prepare you for the flex week assessment where you will be describing a teaching case.
This reflection asks you to practice the skill of noting what you deserve and discerning the inferences and questions related to those observations. First, fill out the chart linked in this week's module during an observation. This chart asks you to focus on the facts of what you are observing and to pay attention to the inferences you make based on those facts and the questions that arise for you (see the chart for an example).
You will submit that chart, as well as a 500-word reflection that goes along with it. In that reflection, please focus on one of the observations and the accompanying inferences or questions. Some questions to consider as you write:
-Why did this particular observational moment stand out to you?
-What do your inferences and questions tell you about the moment?
-What new insight did you gain into teaching, learning, or students from this moment?
-How does the work of separating observations from inferences and questions shape your thinking about the work of teaching?
